Pledge Deadline

All pledges must be entered into the online pledge system by Friday, October 20, 2017. The deadline has been extended due to the cancellation of the walkathon.

 

 

On Walkathon Day

The Walkathon has been cancelled. However, a “Walkathon House Party” will be in the cafeteria instead from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. See the Event Information page for more information on the House Party.  Please do NOT bring your Registration Card or pledge money to the House Party.

 

Do NOT bring any pledge money (cash or checks) to the Walkathon House Party.  Any pledge money (cash or checks) may be submitted to your teacher or the Main Office starting Monday, October 23, 2017.

 

Pledge Goals

We encourage all children to set a personal goal of collecting at least $250 in pledges for their school.  

 

Soliciting Online Donations

The best and easiest way to solicit pledges is to share your personal fundraising URL with your friends and family.  For example, if my link was http://booksin.dojiggy.com/mylink, I would email that link to my family, share on Facebook, or use any other means to share that link with my potential donors.  With that link, your donors can simply visit your Fundraising Page, submit a donation via credit card, and they're done. Your personal Fundraising Page has a thermometer at the top to tell you how much money you have raised. Asking your donors to donate via credit card saves our volunteers a lot of time.

For handy ways to share your personal fundraising link through various social media outlets, you can sign in to your personal Fundraising Page and view My Account -> Sharing.

 

Soliciting and Collecting Cash/Check (In-Person) Pledges

We recommend asking all of your donors to submit their own pledges to you via credit card on your personal Fundraising Page as it saves our volunteers a lot of time. If they do, you will have no additional work of collecting money after the Walkathon. 

However, if you choose to solicit cash or check donations in person, and you collect more than eight in-person pledges, you may need an extra In-Person Pledge Worksheet which is found on the back of your Walkathon Registration Card). This is the only way to handle cash or check donations. Download extra In-Person Worksheets   If you collect cash or check donations, you MUST enter them into your personal fundraising page in order to be eligible for awards or top club.

Please hold onto any cash or checks you have collected. A Collections Report will be sent with instructions on how to submit any cash or check payments based on the data you entered on your fundraising page.

Entering Cash/Check Pledges into Your Personal Fundraising Page.
If you have collected In-Person pledges, you must enter them on your personal Fundraising Page BEFORE the Walkathon in order to participate. Please follow these instructions to input your data.

 

Logging into Your Personal Fundraising Page

  1. Go to your Fundraising Page. Your personalized link can be found on your Walkathon Registration Card.                                  
  2. Click the Login link in the upper right corner of the page and log in with the username and password from your Registration Card. You should then be taken to your personal settings.
  3. Under My Page, click Donations. This will show you all of the pledges you have received or entered online so far.
  4. Click on the button “Enter personal donations.                        

                                                                              

Entering Donations                                                            

  1. Enter a pledge as if you are the donor (for example, under Your Information, please provide your donor’s information, including an address for collecting later and/or email if the donor would like a tax receipt).
  2. Click Complete to submit the pledge.
  3. A receipt will be shown. Click “Make Another Donation” to enter your next in-person pledge.

 

Post Walkathon Collections Process

All students will receive a Student Walkathon Report.  This report will list all of your donations by any payment type.

 

If all of your pledges were paid via credit card, you will have no extra work to do.

 

If you have any check/cash donors, their contact information will be on the report with instructions on how to submit that money as well as the deadline of when to return it to the school.

 

• Cash and Checks should be made out to BESCA with the order number in the memo field. 

 

• Staple an envelope with your cash and checks to the Collections Report and returned to your teacher.

 

• Money can be turned in to your teacher or the office anytime between October 16, 2017 and October 25, 2017 at the latest.

 

Pledge Types

Flat Pledges – The preferred pledge is a flat pledge (a fixed amount), regardless of how far a student walks.

Per-Mile PledgesWe are not accepting per mile pledges this year as students will not be walking due to poor air quality caused by local fires. 

 

Payment Types

Payments made by credit card are the easiest for our volunteers to process!

Credit Card – We prefer credit card pledges. The pledge will appear on your credit card statement as “WPY*BESCA.”  Flat pledges will be charged immediately.  Per-mile pledges will be processed after Walkathon and after the miles walked are calculated. A charge should appear on your credit card during the week of October 16, 2017.

 

Check – Checks should be made payable to “BESCA”and given to the student. The student will then submit the check to the school. Per-mile pledges by check will be processed after the Walkathon and after the miles walked are calculated. The amount due will be calculated and the student will collect the final pledge amount.

 

Cash – Pledge payments of cash should be given to the student. The student will then submit the cash to the school. Per-mile pledges by cash are handled the same as with checks.

 

Pledge Amounts
The minimum pledge our system can process is $2.  This is due entirely to credit card processing fees.

 

Changing Payment Amounts/Types

If you have submitted pledges for your donors as a cash or check pledges, and they would like to change their payment type or amount, please email booksinwalkathontech@gmail.com with the order number, and the new payment information. Remember, if your donors give you extra, updating the amount in the online system will help you reach your goal of Top Club.  Similarly, if you need to remove a pledge due to non-payment, please email booksinwalkathontech@gmail.com with the details.

 

Corporate Matching

Many companies have matching programs for employee donations. Donors and parents, please check with your employer to see if they match donations that you make to Walkathon. Generally speaking, you will submit your pledge online as normal, and then contact your employer about how to match that contribution. Name Corrections

If your student’s name is spelled incorrectly on his/her personal Fundraising Page and you would like to change it, please email booksinwalkathontech@gmail.com with your student’s real name, name as it appears in the system now, and his/her teacher.

 

Other Personal Information Corrections

If you would like to update your email address or other personal information (such as your password), you may do so by logging in to your personal Fundraising Page and going to My Account -> Update Profile where you can type any updated information.

 

Not receiving email updates?

We are sending regular email updates with Walkathon information to the email address you provided on back to school night or to your room parent.  Occasionally we make mistakes when entering hand-written information into our system, either due to typos, or handwriting issues. If you are not receiving these emails, please let us know ASAP with your correct email and we will update you right away. Contact booksinwalkathontech@gmail.com with your student's name, class, and correct email address.
